Got a question?
No problemo! You're probably not the first to ask it.
Check out our FAQ's below. If your question isn't there, feel free to open our messenger chat and we'll be all over it like a rash!
What is a Kiwi Vibes tour?
What isn’t a Kiwi Vibes tour? Alongside 30 other like-minded “Vibrators”, you’re about to explore New Zealand like not-a-tourist. Sure, we’ll show you those sights you’ve been dying to see, but we’ll also show you one hell of a party along the way!
What does my trip include?
Travelling by coach, Kiwi Vibes tours take you on a tour of NZ’s most breathtaking and bad-ass hot spots, with plenty of stops along the way. Included in your tickets are, all transport costs, accommodation for each night, bedding, all breakfasts and multiple lunches and dinners along with some epic activities.
Are flights included?
Unfortunately not. All Kiwi Vibes tours start and end at Base Backpackers Auckland City, and it is the responsibility of our guests to make their own way there. For great flight deals however, we're big fans of our mates over at SkyScanner!
Are meals included on my trip?
Don’t worry we have you covered for most meals. All breakfasts are included - to help soothe those hangovers and get you ready for the day's excitement. Many lunches and dinners are also included. Check out the itinerary to see what you’re in for.
Do I need to bring ‘spending money’?
Yeah, it’s certainly advisable. All ‘Vibrators’ should allow about $100 NZD per day. While this is often only used for some meals, some tour days will have optional paid excursions (e.g. local Maori demonstrations, bungy jumping, etc.).
Where will my trip depart from?
We’ll all meet at Base Backpackers, Auckland where we’ll de-brief and jump on the coach. Base Auckland is also where our trip concludes so we recommend that the you book your night prior to (and after) the tour at Base Auckland.
How can I pay?
To reserve your seat on the tour, you'll need to pay a 10% deposit when booking via our website (this can be made by credit/debit card). The remaining 90% is due 30 days before your tour's departure date, and will be automatically charged to the card details provided at the time of booking at this time. If you are booking your tour within 30 days of departure, you will need to pay the full ticket price at the time of booking to guarantee your spot on the tour.
Do I need travel insurance?
While not mandatory, travel insurance is recommended for “Vibertrons” and should be taken out when purchasing Kiwi Vibes tickets. As well as making sure your expensive stuff is covered, you should also get comprehensive travel insurance (covering you for all medical expenses incurred while traveling).
How much luggage am I able to bring?
As we are traveling via coach, each “Vibehead” is allowed 1 large pack or suitcase weighing no more than 23kg, as well as one day pack.
What will I need to bring with me?
Fully understand the season you’re about to rock into (remember - Southern Hemisphere seasons are the opposite of Northern Hemisphere’s). While there will be access to clothes-washing facilities throughout your tour, it is recommended to pack with multiple changes of clothes. Summer trips can expect to be comfortable in shorts and t-shirts most days, but don’t forget a jacket/hoodie. Winter trips will require long pants and a sweatshirt at the least. Bed linen and pillows will be provided at the accommodation but “Vybrids” are advised to bring a towel or two.
What if I have a medical condition?
If you feel a medical condition may affect your trip in anyway, please let us know when purchasing your Kiwi Vibes ticket. Kiwi Vibes reserve the right to decline bookings if we feel we are not able to accommodate your condition on any given tour.
How much time will I spend on the coach?
New Zealand’s not a huge place so most coach rides vary between a couple of hours to 4 or 7 hours on the bigger days.
What visas do I need?
Luckily, many nationalities are able to visit New Zealand for less than 3 months without a visa. However, if you are not from one of these countries, obtaining your own visa is your own responsibility. We ask that all “Vibertrons” please see the Immigration New Zealand website before booking your Kiwi Vibes tour: https://www.immigration.govt.nz
Is it a problem if I am traveling alone?
No, not at all! Travelling solo is the best way to meet new people and make some life-long mates and, here at Kiwi Vibes, you’re going to make a hell of a lot of them.
Can I cancel my booking?
Cancellations can be made up to 30 days prior to the departure date of your tour, and must be submitted in writing to Kiwi Vibes. Once accepted, you will be refunded 90% of your ticket price. Cancellation requests later than 30 days prior to your tour date will likely be declined due to accommodation booking complications.
Talk me through the accommodation and sleeping arrangements.
On your Kiwi Vibes tour we'll be staying at warm, safe, quality Kiwi hostels. While our best efforts will go into arranging gender-segregated rooms, this cannot be guaranteed at all accommodation, due to their overwhelming popularity. If spending the occasional night in a mixed-gender bunk room doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, Kiwi Vibes might not be for you.
